. MEET ROSS BOLING
Ross is well-known in the Detroit area and the United States as that
rarity: a dynamic coach and teacher as well as a top player.
His teaching/coaching/playing career spans over thirty years and has included
positions at Square Lake Racquet Club,
Franklin Health and Fitness,
Beverly Hills Club and
Detroit Tennis and Squash in this area
as well as Mid-Town Tennis Club in
Chicago, Bent Tree
Country Club in Dallas,
Callaway Gardens in
Georgia and as head women's coach at
Auburn University in the
Southeastern Conference.
While at Auburn, Ross compiled
the best three-year winning percentage in school history and developed the
first nationally ranked players in school history. In 1990 he was among
5 coaches selected nationally as guest clinician at the
NCAA Championships. Ross
has coached or instructed all levels of players, from beginner to world-ranked.
Ross is recognized as one of the top senior players in the United
States and the world.
He is the winner of 3 USTA national balls.
IN 1998, Ross was ranked #1 in the United States in the men's
45 and over division and #15 in the world by the ITF .
In 1999, he was selected to represent the
United States on the Dubler Cup Team [45-over Davis Cup]
that finished 4th in the World Championships in
Luxembourg.
Ross was undefeated in Dubler Cup play.
He competed at the ITF World Championships in Nottingham,
England, in 1998 and Amsterdam in 1999.
Ross is a graduate of Murray State
University with degrees in English and History.
He has also had a career in Journalism as a sports writer for various
publications and as a copy editor for the Chicago
Tribune.
